Notes
Torfmann leaps from Gaildorf to Wertheim in one day and marks it as 45 kilometers. I think the book has missed a digit off the printing, as I wreckon it's 145 kilometers. Anyway, I took two days for much the same journey, starting south east of Gaildorf but joining Torfmann's route where he comes to the Tauber Radweg at Rothenberg. I eventually catch up with him a day later at Wertheim where the Tauber flows into the Main.
In the meantime we were aiming for Rothenberg, where we stayed at the rather damp but otherwise excellent campsite just north of the town. By the time I got there the sun was shining again following rain in the afternoon. I found Liz in Dinkelsbuhl, a delightful historic walled town, and we had an excellent lunch in a traditional restaurant that had just coped with a party of cyclists when we arrived.
