Lutherstadt Wittenburg to Dornburg

We had decided that Liz would drive Mick back to Braunschweig to pick up his motorbike and carry on back to England. Liz would spend a few days relaxing with Eva and Jürgen before setting out to meet up with us later. We packed up, ensuring we had everything we now needed for unsupported camping and waved Mick and Liz off.

We cycled through wooded country on sandy tracks that made the going tricky, avoiding frequent potholes. The weather was overcast with occasional spots of rain. The Elberadweg took us away from the river cutting out the river's meanders and through the outskirts of Dessau. We crossed the river by ferry at Aken and then continued along the cycle route east of the river, mostly with block paving annoyingly aligned in rows rather interlinked so you had to careful not to let bicycle wheels get trapped in the grooves.

At Dornberg we passed the schloss but didn't visit it. We left the cycle path to get to Campingplatz Plattensee with its large swimming lake just north of Pretzien.
